If you're a fan of contemporary romance novels, then chances are you've read at least one book by Colleen Hoover. Hoover is a popular author in the genre, known for writing stories that tackle difficult topics like abuse and addiction. But with difficult topics comes the question of age appropriateness.

So, what age group are Hoover's books meant for?

Colleen Hoover is a popular author of contemporary romance novels. Her books are generally recommended for readers aged 17 and up due to the fact that they often deal with heavy subject matter.
There are 7 of her books recommended for ages 14+ and classed as Young Adult but most of her novels are generally recommended for readers aged 17 and up. This is due to the fact that many of her books deal with heavy subject matter, such as abuse, addiction, and other traumatic experiences. While Hoover's novels are typically classified as "new adult," they often have more in common with women's fiction than traditional new adult romances.

What Parents Need to Know
Parents should be aware that Hoover's novels often contain graphic depictions of violence, sexual assault, and other disturbing content. These scenes are not gratuitous, but they may be too intense for younger readers. In addition, Hoover's books often contain strong language and sexually explicit scenes. As a result, parents should exercise caution when deciding whether or not to allow their children to read Hoover's novels.

I agree with the fact that there is a lot of heavy subject matter in these books, which I honestly wouldn’t even recommend someone under 21 to read. I’m 31 and even I find it heavy for someone my age, but also more relatable for this age. That being said, her books are well written and I do enjoy reading them.

Thank you so much for this information. My daughter is 14 and asking for these books . I read one review that I did not approve for her age. This is very helpful!
